used footwear

Noob here so bear with me. I recently started purchasing footwear from eBay. My question is: Will used leather shoes or boots eventually conform to my foot after being worn for a period of time by another individual? I see the potential for snagging some really great deals but if they might never be quite right, it's not worth it. BTW, recently scored a nice pair of Alden's from a Leather Soul make and they're awesome already. I can only hope they will get even better with more and more wear.
