USB Drive backup device?

Not entirely sure if this is in the right place but I figure it's worth a shot.

I, like most of you I'm sure, carry a jump drive with me everywhere. I keep mine on my key chain and use it everywhere from work to campus to my laptop to friends laptops. Anyways, I'm looking for a device that I can plug my drive into whenever I'm home and would otherwise just have my keys laying around that would automatically mirror it onto a backup drive/card.

I've seen all of the software products that back it up every time I plug it into my computer, but sometimes I'll go days without using it on my personal computer but still have a number of new, unbacked-up files from various other computers.

I haven't seen anything like what I'm looking for so it may not even exist, but if anyone has seen one I'd love to buy it. It could even just be a simple connector with some creative firmware with two ports that I could plug another jump drive/sd card into that would mirror my drive each time I plugged it in.

Any ideas?

I use a Microsoft program called SyncToy -- you can just DL it from Microsoft. It doesn't mirror automatically on plug in, but three mouseclicks will do it.

Well I would use a software program for it, but I'd like to backup my drive more frequently that I use my computer. I just envision something that I could just pop my drive in at night and always know that my filers were securely backed up when I left every morning. (If I did use one, I would use SincToy.)

Also, my laptop has an ssd so space is a bit more precious than if I had 500gbs sitting around.

How is having a separate device strictly for backup purposes into which you would plug your USB drive any more convenient than just plugging it into your laptop?

+1. What exactly are you looking to do here?

In terms of backup software, I use the free SynchToy from Microsoft to keep external and networked drives with up to date backups. I just have to remember to run it

Because I don't necessarily want to turn on my laptop, plug in my drive and confirm that the software is open and syncing every evening when I get home. I would much rather have a small device where I usually keep my keys that I can just plug it into and know that it will be backed up by the time I leave the next morning. I'm not really looking for something with many, if any, customizable options. I'm simply looking for something that if I do happen to lose or corrupt my current drive I can easily get my files back to put on a new drive.

Sounds like you want a usb drive duplicator. Problem is that they're usually made for doing lots (like, dozens) of drives at once.
