Hey guys...first post!
i don't know where else to put this

anyway, I'm interested in buying clothing from US only online stores (e.g. zappos etc. currently interested in onitsuka tiger ultimate 81 le....zappos is the only place i can find it...any other recommendations?)

but i like in australia. So i'm considering setting up a US shipping address (for example, myus.com)
by which i can forward packages.

does anyone have experience with this site or the similar?
What about duties etc. which the site does not cover?

cheers, jay

I would actually just look into securing a proxy in the US. It's probably cheaper and less of a hassel.

Hi,
I have a NY address that forwards packages to me in the Philippines. The service costs me around $5/lb plus a $5 handling fee per package. Cheaper than MyUS.com.

So far only one Ebay seller has refused to ship to my NY address because it doesn't match my Paypal verified address.

Since you're in Australia, give http://www.priceusa.com.au/ a go. They charge 5% if you pay via wire transfer or 10% if you pay via credit card or paypal. But that is 5% on top of the calculated combined total so it's not that cheap. To get an instant quote go to the order page and enter the weight, price in US$ and shipping within the US to Colorado and you'll get a price in AU$.

I've been using www.myus.com for a number of years now. It's a great service, and you save the most money if you buy from more than one merchant (or get more than one box), and have them bundle your purchases together, repacking them for sending to you. Their rates are astonishingly cheap compared to www.fedex.com or what some of the stores charge you.

You should be aware of trade-offs not clear from the postings here. If your package is of any financial value to you, anyone using the US Postal Service to send your packages is not doing you any favors. That's because if the package is lost or damaged you'll never recover the money, regardless of how much insurance you have.

I'm sure all the members here have the best intentions for private forwarding, but I'm trusting my money to someone who's been doing this for more than 10 years. If DHL or FedEx loses your package sent by www.myus.com, they'll file a claim on your behalf and help you get it resolved quickly.

Good luck and happy shopping!

To clear up any confusion, I was joking about paying someone to proxy for them. I shot beer out of my nose when I got a PM about it though I had a feeling that someone might try to take me up on my offer.

edit: I'm not talking about you mcpaul.
