Urban Hip = Black Suit + ... what?

Just had my new, 90% mohair tonik black suit delivered from my tailor (William Field - pics to come) and I'm now ready to hit urban night spots in markedly better style than was the case yesterday. But what shirt to wear when in, say, a night club? I want to signal hip, fun, and style while standing out.

My initial thoughts are (a) grey stripes on a white ground shirt with white collar and white french cuffs, (b) some bold multi-colored striped shirt, or (c) some paisley or flower shirt in black & white or grey & white (a bold color here might look to "Hawaian").

My instinct is to lose the plain white shirt because it would look like I simply came from the office after taking off the tie (not that I would wear such a suit to the office, but to the vast hordes of humanity, that's how it would appear and that's not the vibe I want to give off).

What does the style colective have to say?

Personally I'd do the paisley (not like Hawaian paisley but something muted) maybe some shade of grey rather than the contrast, I think contrast collard shirts can look douchey sometimes.

dont try too hard here. if you've got the suit right (ie hopefully not office-y in cut) then a plain white shirt is best, perhaps slightly textured. white is great to wear in semi dark bars/clubs, it makes you stand out already in that lighting. if you are any kind of halfway handsome man then black suit/white shirt is a winner with the ladies. undo a few buttons, look louche but stylish, profit.

So you don't want to look like you came staright from the office, but you're considering a contrast collar and cuffs 'bank manager' shirt? Interesting!

Check out Modern Tailor's 'magic blue' - the pics don't really do it justice, it's a tonic royal blue/purple which may be 'de trop' for a tonic suit but IMO there's really no such thing as a tonic black suit so it may work well. Anything but the bank manager suit. I'm with David Reeves et al, white shirt and silver tie or do 'the Clooney' without the tie, just don't do 'the Tom Ford' unbuttoned to the waist.

This. You can get white shirts with pretty intricate texturing, some of which look good, others, slightly tacky. You decide.

^^^ make sure it's also shiny and skin tight with heaps of pulling at the buttons. It shows that you're tanky as phuck.

What about a white shirt with contrast on the underside of/behind the placket?
