Can one of you more familiar w/ fabrics please comment on this matter. I saw this Ted Baker jacket that looked like it was made of upholstery fabric. Any limitations why upholstery
wool or mohair should not be used for jackets or overcoats?

Thank you

I don't see why not. Suiting fabric is not dissimilar from the wool "felt" on a pool table, for example. The main question would be the drape of it, because upholstery fabric is not typically required to have much shape of its own.

oscarthewild: Was the Ted Baker jacket like a hacking coat? I saw a really nifty TB hacking coat (velvet collar, stitches around the cuffs, etc.) in a crazy, striped heavy wool (not from Cordings, in ohter words). It was in a Nordstrom Rack. I never would have bought it, but it was very... different.

I saw something like that in an overcoat. Â Dark teal velvet. Â Wish I had bought that. Now I think about it, it could have been upholstery. The sports jacket I mentioned had a floral print and a heavy stiff fabric. Â sort of like this but w/ bluer backgroundfabric I think the drape may not be like the super 150s some favour but no too unlike stiffer cloths of yesteryear. There is just so much Attolini one (and one's closet) can handle. One gets to the stage where a blue suit, even from hand fed sheep, just doesn't get the blood flowing. Need something with an edge. For me, for a long time it was about being proper. Now I have all the proper stuff to last a few lifetimes. Now I seek fun. - -
