Just learned something interesting.
I took a look at the new Moores in Victoria, BC. It is the new flagship store, with something like 3 or 4 times the normal retail space. Suits range from the usual old $169.00 Moores special up to designer RTW suits in the $1000+ range. According to the guy I was speaking with, Moores is making a concerted effort to move to bigger spaces that carry higher end RTW garments as well as the usual cheapy sack suits. There are not in the MTM market yet but it was suggested that some of the locations in certain markets may consider that in the near future. This is the first Moores store to reflect the change, and more are supposed to be on the way across the country.
I just wanted to pass that along to my Canadian brothers, since there is (in my view) a hugely underserved market in mid-range RTW, especially in cities like Victoria that have a wealthy population but only Tip Top Tailors, Moores at one end and British Importers at the other.
Anyways, the irony is that despite some pretty nice new suits on the racks, nothing in the higher end really caught my eye and I ended up buying a Mexican-made "Alfred Sung" for 50% off that fit me, in my view, very well.
