Hello all, I'm heading to Manhattan this weekend, and was hoping someone could post a more recent rundown of sales in NYC. The last thread was great, but I have a feeling that things have changed since two weeks ago; commentaries on discounts and selection would be wonderful. I'll only have an hour or so to shop, so I really need to make it count. I'm most interested in puchasing dress shoes and suits. *500th post, yay me

The Asprey sale sounds great, but do they actually have stuff discounted that is worth buying? Can anyone say what they have marked down? I will go if it's worthwhile but don't want to make the trip otherwise.

I'll add:
Polo - good deals on sweaters
Bergdorf Goodman - the 70% off sale is in full effect, especially good for shirts, sweaters and outerwear. Stuff is pretty heavily picked over and it may take you a while to find what you are looking for, but it's worth the hunt, especially for BG's own brand of casual shirts, of which many are now around $50.

anyone been to Asprey who can say what's on sale? I would like to go this afternoon if it's worth the trip.

Edit: just called them and they said it's no shoes on sale and the clothes are only 50% off, not 80%....

I haven't been, but if you go, I think it's a sample sale that's not held at the Asprey store on 5th Ave. so make sure you check the address first.

I wonder how much their madison avenue store is selling the cable knit cashmere sweaters for. Â They have them on sale at their store here in Chicago, but they are still almost $300. Â P.S For anyone in the Chicago area, I saw one last Polo Ralph Lauren cashmere cable knit sweater (crew neck, red) in a size medium. Â It is now $100. Â I tried it on yesterday and would have gotten it, but unfortunately it was just a tad too big for me. Â

Well, Polo sales are still going on. I ordered two RLPL XS items, a cashmere 3-button long sleeve polo, and a merino wool / cashmere / silk lightweight crewneck, each for $118.50. I don't think they had a lot left in XS...thus I called the Beverly Hills store and ordered another 3 XS RLPL cashmere / cashmere blend sweaters. They still had other sizes however (I called every store that carries RLPL trying to find XS's on sale), so everyone else is not likely to have such slim pickings. I wish I knew about the sale 2 weeks ago. Does anyone know if RLPL dress / sports shirts are on sale as well? Jon.

This is an excellent deal. As far as I know, their store here in Chicago is not selling the sweaters that cheap. I wonder if only certain stores sell them at that price? hmmm....

If you go online, they show some of their dress shirts as being on sale. I didn't really see any in their Chicago store (although I saw a few sport shirts, but everything was well picked over). The PL dress shirts online are around $200 on sale.

Yeah, but $200 a shirt is barley a barging. I'll wait if not for the summer sale. It's not like I really need shirts, if not I would have ordered them from H&K, which I might do anyways, seeing as they are $85 right now, even with the horrible exchange rate. Plus, with the patterned RLPL shirts, there is no guarantee that that everything will line up...but that's another ball of wax. Regarding the sweater sale, I have ascertained that the RLPL items are really the bargains, and the RL Polo items are only discounted at around 25% off. My suggestion to you is to call the following stores and ask them what they have for sale in RLPL cashmere / blends in your size: Madison Ave. Palm Beach Beverly Hills San Francisco Chicago Dallas Houston Washington Manhasset Boston (Newbury St) And maybe New Jersey (Short Hills) I called Hawaii, which used to carry RLPL, but they only had RL Polo, so don't bother calling them. Thus, to clarify: the least expensive RLPL items I found were $118.50 (some originally $395, others $595), whereas the RL Polo (Blue Label) cashmere cable knit crewnecks are going for $395 retail are on sale for $299. So 25% discount for RL Polo compared to upwards of 80% off for RLPL items. Jon.

imageWIS, glad that worked out for you. I also bought a RLPL sweater in NYC, white cashmere, retail $600, price $165. They had some great big shawl collar sweaters - kind of hard to describe, pretty much like this for in the $200s I think. They were great, but just not my style. Anyway, in sum, the RL sweaters, in the NY store at least, are great deals right now.
