For those interested in watches, the Worn & Wound WindUp is this weekend, the show's first time on the west coast. There will be about 30 watch vendors there, and it's free to attend.

The Hitchcock event looks really cool. Unfortunately, I have a work meeting at 5 that day so probably can't make it over there in time.

I heard back from Dalcuore. They're still working out plans for SF but nothing definite yet.

    Sid Mashburn
    Wednesday, October 3 & Thursday, October 4
    location TBD; by appointment only

    https://www.sidmashburn.com/on-the-road-fall-2018

    From their email:

"We don't have shops everywhere... but we'd love to take care of you. Come visit Sid Mashburn On the Road, our traveling men's shop. We bring a select team & master tailor, and set up in a private space (think hotel suite or townhome) to create a full-on customer experience much like we do in our brick-and-mortar shops. Here, you'll find a selection of our latest seasonal fabrics for MTM and custom pieces (plus some of Sid's forever favorites), along with a selection of off-the-rack items including suits, jackets, shirts, trousers, shoes & accessories."

Interesting! My understanding is that Sid got a pile of dough from investor(s?) which is funding his recent expansion. This road show would be a good way to research potential new locations.

@Gus - Can you tell me what Sid Mashburn is? They sell suits made by Sartario and others. Are they just a shop that carries products made by other brands or are they like BB or Suit Supply. My apologies for the dumb question.

Sid Mashburn opened a retail store in Atlanta around 2008. He sells a range of entry level tailored and casual (Levis) as well as better quality tailored, casual and shoes (Edward Green) . He has expanded into Texas, Wash DC and Southern CA and is moving more into their own private label ranging from their own jeans to a wide range of suits and sport coats. He is highly regarded by the editors at GQ and Esquire and many of his vendors say that he is a genuinely cool guy with a blend of Southern prep, Italian tailored and American sportswear.

Is his store similar to how the Armoury is in NYC and HK where they have various artisans visit to do MtM or bespoke while still selling RtW items?

They do MTM (don't know about bespoke). And they sometimes host Edward Green trunk shows, but the store isn't as focused on "artisans" as The Armoury. A lot of the stuff in the store is also private label, although made by good factories.

It also has a more American-Italian flavor, as Gus mentioned.

Nicholas Templeman is coming into town. Can't recommend him enough. Really love the shoes I've bought from him so far. His prices are the lowest among the West End shoemakers and I find he gives more personal service. It's easier to work with him on very complicated or detail orientated orders. Or, like other shoemakers, you can also just choose a style, a leather, and leave him to his work.
