From a company email:

The new bunches will be called Excelsior 120 and Excelsior 150.

Excelsior 120 is a 17.5 micron 2/2 twill fabric weighing 9-10 ozs (280-295 grams) which contains 93 different patterns, all of which are stock supported. The bunch ranges from plain patterns to classics with a twist and covers the whole range of designs for the discerning customer.

Excelsior 150 is a 16.0 micron 2/2 twill fabric weighing 7-8 ozs (235-255 grams) which contains 78 different patterns, all of which are stock supported. The bunch contains patterns that show the fineness of the yarns used and the intricate use of colour to accent the subtlety of the designs.

Hmm... This is bad thing if you prefer traditional cloth. Does Minnis even offer a heavyweight book anymore? I can't find any on their web-site. There are a few heavies in the Flannel and Fresco books. A very few.

If by heavyweight you mean 15oz. and up, then I dont think they do, other than a few flannels. I honestly have little use for cloths that heavy. As long as they have a robust selection of cloths in the 9-12oz. range, I am happy.

The internet text for their Classic book incorrectly states it as 10 oz, when it's actually 12 oz. I didn't notice this at first. 12 oz is fine normal cloth but it does seem to be the minority in their collection. I think these two new books will weight their collection towards the superish lightweight end of the spectrum.

I agree. Maybe they are trying to place themselves as fresco / lightweight specialists.

I've heard about them. They sound like dangerous lunatics.

The cancelling of Rangoon is a tragedy and travesty for which the gods will punish them.

+10000.

Though heavily discounting the prices as they phase out the line may earn them a pardon.

I like a variety. Depending on the weave and finish nothing more than 13oz. Actually, i just got my first Lesser 13oz superfine recently. It is indeed so fine it feels like a lighter weight cloth. I do like Lesser personally but I stay in the 11oz and lighter. My comment above had nothing to do with what I like. Although, i do like light weight fabrics too. I am wearing one today.
