All,

I am looking to add an unstructured sport coat to my wardrobe for the spring / summer, but am a bit unsure where to look for and what to expect with such a casual sport coat.

I would greatly appreciate anybody's advice. Also, I'm sure I'll need to add more info, so just let me know what would help and I'll post it up.

Thanks,

Dan

Thank Jamesgatz! A quick search seems to indicate high quality, but that the shoulders may be slightly padded and not fully natural; is this the case? If so, how does it fit in the shoulder?

Also, while I'll certainly keep an eye out for the Canali Kei on B&S / eBay, any suggestions at a lower price point?

Boglioli and LBM 1911 are my two staple brands. Lardini is also a good one. And recently, there's been plenty of lower end brands moving into that category.

I have two winter weight Canali KEI sport coats, and I am on the look out for a summer weight one.

Both of the winter weight sport coats have zero padding in the shoulder.

Canali Kei is a good pick

Corneliani is also now doing a jacket called the "Easy" with completely unpadded shoulders

I second Boglioli. I picked one up during the Yoox sample sale for $150 recently and love it. No structure whatsoever. They recntly had a few LBM 1911 on there as well for under $200. Plenty of Boglioli for around $400 currently.

Polo usually has several that they bring in to add to their recent collections. They are having a sale in a few days. You could probably get one at a good discount (40% off or so).

I think seersucker or tan cotton is good to add to your spring/summer wardrobe.

Boglioli is my go to. Fits great, but runs a little small I find. LBM 1911 is another favorite as well. Fit is a little less consistent for me. Just picked up a Scott James DB, unlined, in cotton. Nice fit and good bang for the buck.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
