Unmentioned Store in Boston: Uncle Pete's + WvG sizing

As has been mentioned in passing several times at best, there is another store in Boston that opened up within the past year in Boston and carries RO, WWM, WvG (was shocked to pick up chinos and see the tag), BOO, CGD, R&B, etc.

I've been meaning to drop by for a while but the Gilt offer finally made me stop by. They didn't have a lot of stock in at the moment, but from a 15 minute chat with the guy there I learned they had sent nearly all of their F/W RO stock back because it didn't sale on even final sale. He also mentioned they were deciding whether or not to carry it for Spring currently because it doesn't do as well as more traditional ****--RG for example--God damn you boston.

Anyway, pretty neat place, the bad yelp reviews seem undeserved as the guy was nice enough and cut me a deal on one of their last WvG shirts (a BD in the rich plum color). I mentioned I saw they were going on sale for $90 on the WvG website earlier but had sold out, and he just let me have it for what I'm guessing was also cost for them. Can't argue with that. Also due to the RO fiasco I felt I should point out it may be worth calling them around the start of sale season to see what they have, and help keep them alive if the prices falls to your liking. I would consider it a shame to lose one of the 2 men's boutiques in Boston I like--the other being Stels.

The sale rack was populated by 7 jeans..obviously.. however there was also a single pair of plain--not the ones with the clinch strap--WvG khaki chinos in a 29 waist.

On a final note, the shirt I bought for such a deal was an XS. In store I believed I needed an S and tried it on for fun, sort of also buying it in the same spirit making a deal that if I tried it on at home sans heavy W+H henley and it didn't fit I had one day to return it.

I'm a bit torn, it seems to fit as close to the pinnacle of slim perfection as possible, to the point where another mm would be too small. Likewise sleeve length is probably several mm less than perfect to the point that it might look a bit short if they are buttoned. Finally if I wear anything but slim shorts with a low profile belt there is a chance the shirt will bell out. Obviously I need to decide if its comfortable or not so my only question is, from a visual perspective, does it look passable.. or dead sexy, or should I return/B&S it immediately?

I think the shirt looks great on you. yes, maybe the sleeves are a little short when not rolled, but I end up rolling my sleeves when wearing bd's anyways.

I'm rarely in the area, but always try to stop by the store if I am, and really do want to support them, but I feel like it's just a mini-Tannery, I heard that the owner is a former employee, so it makes sense. I think their selection is all over the place, but am still going to stop in to see what they're getting for the spring/summer. I have a feeling that RO would be a hard sell in any Boston area store, but good on them for trying.

Bad yelp reviews? I just yelped it and it has 5 stars average with 3 people rating it. Shirt looks ok. I think the small might fit you better though.

Hmm, you're right about the Yelp reviews, the are flawless. I remember reading somewhere that they didn't really abide by their scheduled hours of operation... ie. someone complaining that they walked up at 4pm on a weekday and the door was locked. A minor complaint at that, I'm thinking now that might have been for a different store on the same street.

Shirt seems to fit you really nicely, although a full-body shot might help. If your pants are too baggy at the bottom, it's going to look a bit off.

The WvG shirts all are pretty short in sleeve length for whatever reason. I own four of them, but at $85 a pop, can't complain at all. It's not like I ever don't roll the sleeves up anyway, so it doesn't make too much of a difference.
