Unlined Overcoats. Why?

I was shopping for an overcoat this weekend and noticed that there are several unlined offerings (Belvest, Zegna and BG private label) I found this odd given than an overcoat's function is to keep you warm. I also thought that the lack of a lining would cause the coat to "catch" on your jacket or trousers. And by unlined I mean unlined in the body....they all were lined in the sleeves and quarter top.
Am I missing something?

It's just the style of the day to have things unlined, to show off the internal construction and the visual impact of colorful, taped seams.

I agree that it makes little sense on overcoats.

I really do think this is the main reason, most of the time. Shiny things catch the eye, and make sales.
