How is this store. From what I understand, I assume you guys will refer to it as "mall store" or whatever, but in comparison to J.Crew, Zara, and Banana Republic (comparable? brands), where do you put the quality.

I'm looking for a cardigan and I'm guessing that J.Crew and Zara will be in my price range as I do not tend to spend much on clothes. I figure I'm going to have to several places because I have some sizing issues, so any other comparable price/quality etc places would be helpful too. I'm just starting to take more care with how I dress so this is going to be a learning process.

I don't have my exact measurements (will get soon!) but I have an approx 42R coat, waist is 31ish (haven't measured but my 32 jeans ride too low), 6", 165-170 lbs. Just trying to find places that might have clothes that fit, since most places seem to be a little wide around the waist or tight on the shoulders.

Thanks in advance!

A little off-topic, but I really-really doubt you wear a size 42R jacket. Most likely a 38R.

I'm 99% sure you're not a 42R. As acecow suggested, you're most likely a 38R.

As far as quality goes, I think UCB is decent -- it's similar to Zara and below J. Crew. Most of the clothing is very trendy, things that most people here would be unable to pull off. I think that the colors and patterns at UCB are much better than those at Zara and J. Crew and I have a few pieces from there that I like.

United is usually (from my experience) a bit more expensive and higher quality than J.Crew etc.

MOD: Can this please be moved (or do I need to repost)?

My shoulders are very wide. Water Polo player and swimmer. I wear suits (not ridiculously expensive ones) and I've had multiple people (Jos A Banks, Brooks Brothers, Macys, Dillards) tell me that my jacket is 42R but they need to size me down to 41R which is a bit restrictive because they need to take the jacket in so much that if it was a 42R it would flair out at my waist like a woman's sports coat.

I cannot button a 38 jacket and I feel nervous tearing a 40 as I can feel it extremely taught across my back when I have my arms extended. If I button the 40 I can barely move my arms. The suits I have purchased are all separates as the waists are always way too large.

I am a 42R and I am about the same size as OP. Try buying clothes with a ten inch drop. I blame it on my freakishly wide shoulders.

I used to shop at benetton back in the day. They had great wool sweaters, merino I beleive, but whatever it was it was fantastic. I didn't even know that they are still around.

i had a pair of their linen trousers which i got on sale and found pretty nice... also got some shirts a while back and quality was very poor, stitching came off easily and collar does not stand up at all. i haven't really bought anything from BR but in my experience zara < benetton < j crew

the j crew merino cardies are nice, i have one and they usually go on sale, but NEVER get the cotton/cashmere mix one as they stretch out and lose their shape quickly
