I don't know if these jackets have been brought up before, but check them out on Uniqlo's Japanese webstore - http://store.uniqlo.com/jp/store/feature/htweed-jk/

The hunting jacket looks very nice and quite similar to the EG bedford jacket. It's a pretty steep price, though (although still cheaper than the bedford).

I wonder if it's a Japan only thing or if it will be available in the New York and London stores too. I'm thinking of picking one up and wondering if I should just do it through a Japanese proxy now or see if it becomes available in New York (though I'd need a New York proxy then).

I'm also wondering what that 777 stuff at the top with the wallet is about.

That overcoat is awesome. Is this Japan only? Are there any outerwear pieces for men?

+1. That's about what Banana Republic or J.Crew, the 2 much less cool American equivalents, would charge for items of similar specs. And anything similar from decent fashionhouses would command about twice the price.

Their lamb leather trench coat and motocycle coat are very cool also:

How's the quality with Uniqlo? I'm vary wary of false economy regarding outerwear: I'd much rather drop $800 on a very high quality jacket that'll last 10+ years than go for a trendy, mediocre-quality version for 1/4 the price.

I've had a waxed cotton Uniqlo jacket for a couple years now, and it has held up surprisingly well. In fact, I haven't had any of the H&M effect--falling apart after the first few wears.
