They've been saying "autumn 2006" for a good long while. Anybody know when the store is actually slated to open?

NO, but I keep checking every week or so. Please post if you see that it has opened, and I will do the same.

There already is an NYC location open. It's actually the second location they've had in SoHo (the first was the old Vice store on Greene St.)

The current location is on the corner of Broome and Broadway, if I remember right. And yes, it still is open (I was just there two weekends ago). The "flagship" store that they're opening this November is a block or two up from their temp location... walk a little further down Broadway and you should see it on the corner.

Edit: Info from their site-

Address : 486 Broadway, At the SE corner of Broome St. and Broadway
TEL : 212 966-5374
Regular Mall Hours : Mon-Sat: 10:00am - 8:00pm / Sun: 11:00am - 7:00pm

If your that desperate for some Uniqlo, make a drive down to Jersey and head over to one of the malls that have it in them. If your located in the city, I think the Rockaway Townsquare is the closest one. If your feeling a little more adventurous, then head down to Menlo Park Mall or Freehold Raceway Mall, both are great malls and have great stores.

Uniqlo is in Union Square today. They have two stores inside what look like shipping containers. Was "late" for work, so didn't stop in, but looked like t-shirts, hoodies, umbrellas. Didn't seen jeans.

More important, they are giving out flyers with a coupon for $15 off a purchase of $75 or more.

There's a little more information on the card, too. Says teh store will be 35,000 square feet, and the "brand's largest retail store anywhere in the world as well as the most significant example of Japanese retail culture outside of Japan." What does that mean? Vending machines?

Scheduled to open the flag ship store on Nov. 11. You can also stop by the two other stores. One is in Soho on B-Way and Bleaker. I forgot where the second one is.
