What are your favorite patterns, weight, and color for sport coats? What’s your go to jacket in the winter?

I have a basket of tweeds for the winter, and a couple of navy blazers. Many of the tweeds are from LL, but also Ardanalish, and (on a different angle) one of A&S's old Breanish patterns.

Not a lot of more luxurious fabrics, for the most part. I may get around to something of that sort. Normally, when I want to wear something soft and light, though, I reach for a sweater.

That is the one I have. Just needs some alterations-- I had it made at A&S when I weighed about 25 more than I do now.
Moths got at it, but I had some of the obvious bits repaired and will let the rest look unkempt.

Much scratchier, and more rustic and substantial than Shetlands. Less plump (and probably more durable) than modern Harris. Pretty much all of it made from undyed wool, so none of the luxurious colors and patterns you'd find in any of those other collections.

You can order swatches to have a feel if you are inclined to check it out.

My favorite thing about Ardalanish is their sheep dog on street view. Their tweeds are really rustic, and I love how connected to the earth they are. They're made on a farm on the scruffy Scottish coast, and they feel like it. Their cloths are almost all woven from undyed fiber, so you just get natural wool colors. But they also do some red/orange and chalky blue, which they get by solar dyeing in glass jars from woad and madder collected on the island. I don't know of any tweed to compare it to. It's denser than Harris tweed. They're rough and earthy. You should request some swatches.

However, at over 2000 pages, I don‘t remember everything. It‘s often the case that I‘m looking for a specific cloth recommendation months after a similar discussion has played out and I feel sheepish repeating the question.

So, what do you guys do? Do you use the search function to search through everything or do you bookmark specific posts? Or do you do the baller thing and keep an Excel file of recommended cloths with ref. numbers??

I would summarize it as:

1. Have you tried Fresco? Or Fox Air/ Finmeresco/ Crispaire?

2. Check with Huddersfield Fine Worsted or Harrisons of Edinburgh.

3. That linen is probably from Ulster

4. [General moaning about London Lounge prices]

5. Look at this cloth I found on eBay/ Ed Morel/ Etsy/ some ramshackle in the Outer Hebrides!
