Do you know if there are any Magee bunches with herringbone in the 16oz range?
Molloy's herringbone Donegals are 16oz (at least they were five years ago, I don't know what they have now)
Does anybody here know you makes the fabrics for Isaia? This is supposed to be a 50% wool/ 40% silk and 10% linen fabric. Love the feel but not the color/ plaid.
At least this justifies the outrageous pricing a bit. thank you. Well can you recommend a lightweight fabric for a summer sports coat (50% wool/ 40% silk and 10% linen )? I don't necessarily like choosing on the spot at the tailor anymore. I am usually overwhelmed and I have a hard time imagining what it will look like. They use different mills and all their fabrics are custom woven/ designs. They have an in-house fabric designer.
Perhaps you should take a look at Caccioppoli 1920 website, they have variety of lightweight fabrics availableAt least this justifies the outrageous pricing a bit. thank you. Not technically a tweed, but VBC made some really terrific overcoating for Drapers about two years ago. I don't know if there's any fabric left. But it was an alpaca-wool blend with a huge, chunky herringbone, beautiful mottling, and just a terrific texture. Really unique. I think the alpaca-blend added a lot.
Derek, wouldn’t it be time for you to make a terrific overcoating your next custom run project? I think the above sounds fantastic, and with your great taste in clothes I am sure it will spectacular
(btw wearing the puppy tooth fresco today)
Derek’s next project should be a Goldfinger tweed at larger scale.
Both really good ideas. I've thought about doing that VBC overcoating. IMO, it was truly special. There is a bit of me that wonders if people are interested in VBC fabric. I feel like guys assume the quality isn't that great because VBC is everywhere, but a lot of "high end" fabric is also woven by VBC, just sold with a different name. I should ask if they're able to re-run it. Part of the challenge is also finding a mill that's able to process cut lengths. Having this shipped somewhere and then cut and packaged adds quite a bit to the cost.
