Gents - just throwing a concept out there but I'd like to start a swatch bank (both image and physical) to be stickied in this thread. We all probably have a bunch of them lying around from planned or considered commissions and I think it'd be useful to have those handy for others - especially those who don't have ready access to various books at their tailors.

Any objections?

Great idea. I have some Molloy & Sons Donegal swatches from a recent commission that I'd be happy to contribute to this.

This is a good idea but there would have to be agreed-upon standards for producing a clean, color-true image

To be honest I hadn't thought that far ahead re: photo quality though I know that's really important.

I thought we could establish, at a minimum, who has what and some preliminary pics. That would give ppl a starting point for what fabrics they should consider pursuing, etc.

What do you plan to use them for?

Tan will most likely be a single breasted overcoat. Green will likely be a peacoat style (db with oversized lapels). The material is quite thick so should make good coat material.

I'm just getting a camel hair overcoat finished up so it may be a couple of months but since we're getting a foot of snow this weekend I may need to speed that up.

Got the cloth from TACS italy.

Thanks for the link - may be an inspiration. FYI they have 42 potential colors of Casentino cloth but when I asked maybe less than half was currently available.

I'm looking for a navy or lighter shade of blue herringbone tweed for a suit. Any recommendations for books to check out?

There are some nice non-conventional blue herringbones in the London Lounge Fox Flannel set. For worsteds, you just have to choose a weight and there will be any number of navy and RAF blues. Lesser 13oz has been one of the safer bets there-- assuming they haven't re-spec'ed the new book.
