After all of that debate over Lovat cloth, I went with this Moon Shetland tweed. I like that it’s fairly understated, yet full of autumnal colors.

Does anyone have an online directory that shows all the current Art Du Lin fabrics? I.e. like a normal catalogue (similar to W. Bill, Drapers, H&S etc)?

not the best but if you click 'select fabric' it shows the various swatches

I appreciate this - gracias.

Hmm - doesn't give me the fabric codes. It is so hard finding information - and it looks like they change their solid colours every year. To my knowledge there are two weights of Art Du lin - NS1 being the lighter and NS2 the heavier? Ringing Loro Piana has yielded no results as well!

yeah im unsure about the fabric codes, but I know the heavier ADL has a more prominent twill weave than the lighter version

I love moons stuff. Very affordable and a huge range of colors. Just received a jacket from the Shetland twill in this forest green. (Excuse the terrible photo) 97DBEC58-5F31-44B1-96E9-7367E1A7B9B8.jpeg

Agreed. That is really nice. I’m probably done ordering fall/winter sport coats, but I’d like to get a twill next year.

get the oatmeal
it's a great colour and just nicely shows the twill weave

wore mine today as well

Hi Gents,

Does anyone know what fabric this is from Zegna or has a similar alternative?
Fabric is cashmere/silk blend...

859N19A8-10JPN0--F

Dear @Skeem1,

This is a fabric destined only to the EZ clientele, under the Su Misura program run by the Zegna boutiques around the world, and it was never accessible to the tailoring market outside those boutiques.

Consequently, there is no 60% cashmere, 40% silk fabric currently offered in the EZ books, etc. This very same houndstooth can only periodically be found in the pertinent (FW) Anteprimae (seasonal collections) but with different composition(s) and weight(s).

Unfortunately, the above brown houndstooth was indeed offered in different years just few FW Seasonal Collections ago, in the following two iterations:
a) 14 Milmil 14: a high-end jacketing (and suiting with other properties) fabric.
Composition: 95% Super180 Wool, 5% Cashmere (14microns all the way).
Weight: 320grams/linear meter.
Color: exactly the above color + flecks (faux donegal).

b) Trofeo-Cashmere: a mid-to-high-end jacketing (and suiting with similar properties) fabric.
Composition: 95% Super160 Wool, 5% Cashmere.
Weight: 290grams/linear meter
Color: exactly the above color.

Should you be patient, it will re-surface again, otherwise, there are numerous alternatives offered by both Italian and British mills.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
