David, FWIW, it's the only solid blue at that weight and it's really a suit color, though it's not terrrible for a jakcet, it's not as nice as the lighter blues at the higher weights.

I hear you. This friend though is an older gentleman who will be wearing it around Palm Beach and is used to dark navy worsted jackets with gold buttons. No need to push things too far!

That weight Fresco wears very cool, much cooler than it's cousin that is 1oz heavier.

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to snap a pic of the fresco. I had guests staying over last night and it was a bit hectic. Tonight for sure.

Couldn't say for certain, but most self-respecting tweed manufacturers will offer a black and white herringbone. I am quite partial to the P&H Glenroyal one.

    cloth experts:

This fabric, from one description I've heard, is called "Diamond Jacquard". Is this an accurate description?

Craig's jacket looks a little tight to me, but it's the fabric that I like.

I'm looking at having a tuxedo jacket made for streetwear purposes (yes, I will wear it over a white tshirt and black jeans, you may commence mindsplode). I used to have one that was midnight cotton canvas with silk lapels, but I spent too much time in the gym and have outgrown it.

The reason I like this fabric is that it's got enough texture to break a little away from the minimalist appeal of a tux jacket. I would like it a little less shiny, but that's probably because of the camera flash.

Is this fabric often available at tailoring houses?

Are there other, similar fabrics I could look at for such a commission? One that's a touch more subtle would be cool.

Have you thought about making another cotton? I have a Comme des Garcons tuxedo jacket that is intended to be worn casually that I like very much. It's cotton, like the one you described, and I couldn't really imagine it in the fabric pictured above, which is too lux/slick for streetwear, IMO.

yeah I didn't really consider that,

    It's probably a good option.

It would be streetwear, but in general worn more at night (clubbing etc) so I think I could get away with a bit of luxe.

    Hmmm.

hendrix, this may blow your mind, but I think your SW&D use of this jacket could be pretty cool.
