I made one for a friend's wedding last year out of the Harrison's book, came out really nicely. It was cotton and I've only had experience with those, though I hear there are still providers of silk velvet around.Cross post from black tie thread
I’m thinking of doing a velvet smoking jacket. Other than Albert slippers, I’ve never dealt with velvet. What book(s) would you recommend for a suitable (see what I did there?) smoking jacket velvet? Very likely green or burgundy. Thanks.
Have you checked out the Ulster weavers cloth in the color oyster or string?
