Found it on the website, but doesn't look especially green. Lighter blue with a hint of beige, yes. Will try to check it out in the tailor's shop. The red Solaro can be a little too exotic, and I generally prefer blue-- but who knows if I'd like this in a suit?

The website doesn’t do a good job of capturing the color. Here’s a shot of the green and the reverse blue. Wonder if I’m the first to ever do the blue reverse Smith?

Doing one in red (the reverse of the traditional tan) is a bit too bold for me.

I currently have something similar in a dormeuil herringbone (dunno whether it’s technically a solaro) it’s charcoal grey on one side and charcoal navy on the other (charcoal with navy herringbone weft)

Is there a good place to source horn buttons in the US, preferably matte finish? Tender seems to have closed for some reason until November and I need some buttons.

TIA,

Britex?

There is a place in Soho London that has everything and will ship. Can't remember the name right now.

Dear Gentlemen,

Re: Green Solaro

Shibumi's Benedikt has already made for himself a suit from the green solaro cloth, and therefore you may take a look at the finished garment in his personal tumblr.

Cheers,

Dimitris

Your MO seems much more subdued. I think it's pretty cool, but it's hardly what I would consider a summer cloth, particularly the original, Smiths iteration.

I thought Patrick wore only mid-grey to black...

Yeah, I don't love the look or color, but I just don't understand why people suffer in it in the summer. Some sort of historical affectation I suppose.
If you've ever needed a tan/fawn suit, it has its place. Shoulder season, on occasions when a little luminescence wouldn't kill anyone. "Thinking man's gabardine."

At the moment, I'm more inclined to do a genuine summer suit (up to 10oz, maybe the LL Piuma) or-- if plain colored-- a cavalry twill or whipcord for winter. Plenty of time to decide, as this is far down the "need" list.
