What bother's me the most is the self-serving nature of Alan Bee's posts and the perceived motives behind them. I rarely (if ever) have seen him contribute anything useful to any conversation at hand or offer immediate suggestion/advice.

The videos don't count...

Does anyone know if Harrisons of Edinburgh has in its books (all their brands) a proper, thick whale, navy serge? I have quite a few books from them and cannot find a proper thick whale one but only fine twill like.

I would appreciate the book and cloth reference.

Alternatively, any other source will do but prefer Harrison as I can easily get it

Gentlemen,

Can anyone please suggest a good robust cloth for a traditional Navy Blazer?

I've been after Harrisons for H. Lesser 29616 (a beautiful 16oz navy hopsack) for the better part of a year now and it looks like it wont be restocked. I was pointed to H. Lesser 29614 (a 16oz twill in same book) as an alternative. Also to P&B Universal 74139 (a hopsack) in the P&B Universal book - but the P&B Universal 74139 doesn't look anything as refined at the equivalent H. Lesser 16oz hopsack.

Any insight will be highly appreciated.

Smith Steadfast (14/15oz), it there is anything left.
Otherwise, there are some excellent 13oz fabrics in the Harrisons Oyster book.
Also, the worsted book at Fox has some traditional navy serges and hopsacks, a few of which are in the 15oz territory.
