Are you John Mayer? 'cause we saw him yesterday in our hood - much taller than I imagined him to be.

Did you imagine him to be short?

Any way, my sighting was on Saturday, so no, I am not John Mayer (who is he?). Was your father-in-law visiting by any chance?

In terms of random, non-arranged or non-public appearance celebrity encounters:

I sat next to Jay Leno (who was, of course, in a classic car) in traffic on the 5 between Newport Beach and L.A. awhile back.

When I was a kid and Disney World, I ended up running into (and subsequently hanging out with for a couple of hours) the kid that played "Mark" on Home Improvement. I had no idea who he was (although my Mom did).

I ran into Jesse "The Body" Ventura at the Minneapolis airport when he was the Governor. He's a massive dude.

I had dinner a couple of months ago next to Sam Neill (the main character from the Jurassic Park movies) at the Sky Yard at The Drake Hotel in Toronto.

I sat a few rows down from Ron MacLean (of CBC's "Hockey Night in Canada" fame, for those non-Canadians) at a Jays game this summer.

I've met a ton of hockey players, most recently Claude Lemieux, Craig Simpson and Stephane Richer in the last month in downtown TO as they were in town filming "Battle of the Blades", but far bigger names than that, including Phil Esposito this summer in Yorkville.

I saw a few NFLers in Hawaii at the Hilton on the Big Island during the Pro Bowl about 10 years ago, including Warren Sapp and Aeneas Williams.

I sat next to a model that's been in a bunch of fairly prominent international campaigns (can't remember her name...) in business class on the way down to NYC a year ago (she was very friendly - had a major fear of flying and wanted to talk to distract herself most of the way).

BTW, I think the renovation work looks good, and did not understand the anti-improvement hoopla.

Saw Brooke Shields walking with her kids and husband on W. 70th then saw John Turturo, who was in front of me in line at Maoz, between 70th & 71st on Amsterdam. This happened probably about 2 minutes apart. Of course my girlfriend was the one who recognized Brooke Shields and I was the one who recognized John Turturo.

The Counting Crows singer ran into me yesterday when rushing across the platform between the local and express train. I should have dragged him by the dreadlocks.

Bobby Cannavale was in line behind me at a Starbucks in Manhattan recently.

A few years ago I saw Paris Hilton outside the funeral home in my town, they were filming for The Simple Life.

I've met a ton of Indian Bollywood celebrities in Mumbai over the summer. (Don't know if that really applies here lol)

Bumped into him on Sunset in Hollywood after a Goo Goo Dolls show in 1996.

Pick about any night during the school year and you'll find him at just about any bar around Berkeley. Tonight I ran into Michael Wincott while out seeing "The Road." I immediately gave him the nod but most of my friends didn't recognize him. He's one of the more unforgettable character actors in Hollywood, especially with that voice.

I can proxy you one if you really must have it, but it really is terrible.

That aside, I was in Bic Camera Shibuya the other day looking at film and some famous Visual Kei singer was there looking at digi cams. I didnt know him, but a friend of mine walked up and said hey.
