I think it actually started her career, strangely enough...

    Not exactly, no.

Were you in Chicago GDL? I totally saw them too!

Nah - they were right outside that hip club - you know the one?

    Just thought of this one:

While working on a political campaign in 2004, Sharon Stone was doing the rounds as a celebrity spokesperson and stopped by the field office I was at. She began giving us a pep talk about the importance of being involved, which was a bit odd and redudant seeing as how all of us there were paid campaign staff and didn't exactly need the motivation, but one of her anecdotes about why this was important was that she had an abortion during her college years. She then went into excruciating detail about it and the emotional consequences and began tearing up. After regaining her composure, she went on about random other shit like her weird breakdown/confessional never happened.

    It was awkward.

Two weeks ago Paris Hilton smiled and waved to me after I winked at her.

Run's brother (? - Russell Simmons). 15 mins. ago outside the WTC Tribute museum. All week there's been a logjam of limos and dozens of NofI-looking guys swarming around in front of the apt. building next door (which has a new BO/Change poster in the window). Russ was coming out w/ a NofI heavy (bodyguard?[IMG]), but wearing Yankees cap, striped polo, etc. (i.e. not NofI suit, bowtie, silk PS).....It's like that, and that's the way it is! [IMG]

You've never heard Jay-Z but you can recognize Russell Simmons? [IMG]

Saw Alec Baldwin in Amagansett a couple weeks ago - looked like his head just came out of an intense cycle in a clothes dryer but he was holding onto his cup of coffee pretty well.

Wouldn't know if I heard him. Don't go to clubs, don't listen to commercial radio. Don't watch the MTV. Admittedly, not being a big fan of the hippityhop, I've never heard a song and been prompted to find out "who sings that"....

Russ Simmons was married to Kimorra, right? [IMG] Def jam, etc. He's more of a People magazine-type celebrity.....

    * I may have seen either Kan-yay or Fiddy (the feud!) at Virgin by accident a couple of years ago.

    ** Mary's Marvelous?

I helped Jerry Springer find a title at the Borders in Chicago. That spiderman guy walked in once and picked up "She's just not that into you." He didn't want me to see what he had but I already saw it.

I posted this in another thread ... but it might be appropriate.

I used to go [to the Russian Tea Room] frequently during the Faith Stewart-Gordon days. We were both members of the same club and when she was holding court at the restaurant, I'd get a "celebrity" booth.

As for the real celebrities who got the front booths ... I was never a problem for them ... perhaps because I never recognize anyone. At most I'll think someone looks familiar.

The only time it can get to be a problem -- for me, not them -- is when the celebrity looks a little too familiar. There I am ... able to picture them without clothing due to their having been in a nude scene in a movie I've seen (but don't really remember). I'll find myself thinking ... I'm not Wilt Chamberlain ... surely I would know if I have. About then it will hit me ... oh, film personality. Quizzical look gone from my face ... I'm back to enjoying my meal.

I was in APC on Mercer the other day when Mos Def came in and started dancing to the background music.
