A couple of weeks ago I was having dinner at The Bazaar in L.A., in the dining room that has an open kitchen. I looked over and realized that Marcel, the hated molecular gastronomist from the second season of Top Chef, was one of the chefs behind the counter.

While I was dealing with baggage at LAX for our return flight, my wife saw Kevin Nealon in the United lounge area.

Back when Martha Stewart was just sentenced I was having dinner at Cafe Boulud in NYC and she walked in. The whole place went silent and she was ushered into the back. I think she was supposed to show up to begin her sentence in the following couple days - maybe a "last meal" of sorts. BTW, she has a giant head.

Another dinner in NYC and Lewis Black was at the table next to me.

Joe Lieberman sat behind me on a flight once. I'm not a fan.

P. Diddy was on my flight and his bodyguard sat next to me (business class) - Diddy was in first. They were chatting together next to me and it took me a sec to realize who it was; then I kept singing "Mo money mo problems" in my head.

Manute Bol sat across from me on another flight. He had to sit in the bulkhead row in First - no way he would have fit otherwise.

I've met a number of others at events, but I suppose those were more expected so don't really fit the theme of the thread

Saw Jim Lehrer at Reagan Airport last Saturday. I wasn't sure it was him, so I didn't say anything. Then I wound up next to him on the shuttle to the other concourse. Told him I was a big fan, etc. He was incredibly gracious and happily chatted with me. Turns out he was on the flight to Albany...when I boarded, he shook my hand and said, "Have a nice flight sir!"

Very nice man.

Not sure if I've posted in this thread before, but...

My brother-in-law is an actor in LA (about which hopefully more soon). He's also a singer and does a lounge act three nights a week at places around town. Anyway...

A year ago we went out to LA for his birthday. At dinner we saw the dad from "That 70's show" and at the bar later we saw the dude that played Danny Noonan in "Caddy Shack".

Oh my God. I just met Lionel Messi at the Zara at 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica.

He's not just a celebrity, but the best footballer in the world. I felt super gay cause I was giddy for another 15 minutes after meeting him.

I managed to take a picture with him. I'll post it in a few.
