Uneven toe wear advice

Is this something I need to fix before it gets worse either with toe caps or the way I walk (haha)?

This looks like something you should wait til it gets worse, and then get it fixed, so as to not pay twice for fixing it. It's due to a mix of the way you walk and the material of the sole. You probably can't do anything to avoid it other than getting shoes with very durable soles. Otherwise, looks like you'll have to find a good cobbler.

Thanks Oliver! If those threads wear down will the stitching unravel on top of the shoe? It looks close. BTW This is an Alden shell chukka

That's normal. The stitching on top will not unravel.

I find that shell cordovan tends to have more toe wear that calfskin shoes. The reason being that cordovan takes more time to break in. However, rest assured, that the toe wear will taper off and stay constant for a while once you've broken in the shoes.
