Unable to wear black shoes anymore!

I think black shoes can make a particular statement that brown shoes can't make, so when you want to make that statement - better go with black.

Black is always the best choice for (1) job interviews (2) evening (3) funerals. Other than that I prefer brown, unless I am going for a retro look with black silk knit tie, etc.

Same experience here. The thing is you still need black shoes for some sorts of suits and after 6.

When black is called for, I wear one of my #8 Alden cordovans. I haven't had a black shoe(aside from formalwear) in years and I can't say I miss them.
