What's a good, reasonably-priced umbrella that I can source in Australia? Prefer wooden handle (of course) and black or charcoal canvas.

Thanks very much,

Stuart

I lost a very nice Armani umbrella in Sydney.

There used to be a boutique, which stocked nice umbrellas, in Paddington, over at the Five Ways. THey are designer, but the best I've seen in Sydney.

Unfortunately, I am in Brisbane. Something on the web would be ideal.

Hello Ferguscan, I, too, am in Brisbane and there's not much choice here. Herringbone have a couple of umbrellas, but they have patterned, not plain canopies. Mitchell Ogilvie have umbrellas but they are obscenely priced. The umbrellas at DJs and Myers are nothing special at all. James Smith & Sons in London will let you order via e-mail, but given the current exchange rate, you're looking at about $500 for a "full stick" umbrella (ie a one-piece, wooden handle and shaft). Mario Talarico in Italy makes great umbrellas for considerably less but a) I don't think that they shop outside the EU/UK and b) their website is rather unhelpful and so I'm not even sure what I'd be ordering. If you are able to speak Italian, though, you may be able to make more sense of it. One of the members of this forum with the username "chorse" recently started up a business selling ties, pocket squares and umbrellas, amongst other things. I've bought a couple of things from him (not an umbrella, though) and he's great to deal with: http://www.howardyount.com/collections/accessories Frankly, I'd love to pick up a nice umbrella or two so if you do find out how to order from Mario Talarico or if you find another good source, I'd like to know about it!

I bought 2 different styles of Gustbuster - http://gustbuster.com/

There are very few places in Australia that sell them and those that I found sold a small variety (typically just the golf ones, from golf shops).

I found an ebay seller in the US and he started to stock some extra models of Gustbuster so he could send a few my way.

Worked out to be around AU$70 each with postage for two (postage was killer - $50 or so).
