I'll second this. While not really my style (a little too technical looking for me) Arcteryx stuff is really well made and the cuts of their pieces are extremely flattering (at least on me

) And while the prices are high, I've found that you generally can't get cheap and good to match up well (although expensive and bad seems not to be a problem.) A W+H tiger fleece in classic fit would probably look pretty good o you, and is remarkably warm, but not cheap either. They are not really that bulky, but not as lightweight as the Arcteryx. The advantage there is that they don't look as much like performance gear. For schlepping to the gym, I sometimes wear a Pagatonia hoodie, which, at $80 retail (and often can be found for less) offers a cheaper alternative. But you will look a little like you just walked off the slopes (I used to use mine only for hiking trips.)

I've got one of Icebreaker's midweight longsleeves with the thumbholes and one of their heavier weight sport ltd pullovers. They both feel and look fantastic, great fit. I marginally prefer Smartwool due to slightly longer arm length and torso cut; due to my ridiculous arms, the thumbholes aren't placed the best for me. You could argue that Icebreaker is a little softer but I don't see a whole lot of difference. Watch out, this stuff is ridiculously addictive. Merino layers resist odor and keep you exactly at the temperature you want to be at. The look may be too sporty for some here.

To me, the pinnacle of Icebreaker is this strangely-hard-to-find hoodie: http://www.backcountry.com/store/ICE...ml?id=6tBfhibL

edit re the washing: You can machine wash the Smartwool and Icebreaker stuff every now and then and it will be fine, it's pretty heavy duty. Seriously, though, you can take this stuff camping for a week and it won't be that offensive when you're done.

I'd reccomend what shoreman said. The American Apparel Flex Fleece Hoodie is very thin and lightweight, but in a good "designed to be that" way. I have one now and it's very slim in the chest, stomach and arms. Perfect for layering, working out, or for florida students, putting in your backpack after the temperature jumps 30 degrees from morning to afternoon.

I don't know, but my girlfriend has some really really thin hoodies, like seems just as thin as underarmor. If you're kinda skinny, you could probably go to some basics stores(gap, express, american eagle, hollister, etc...) and find some cheap thin girl hoodies. There's nothing girly about them though because my girlfriend's is just a navy blue hoodie with no markings or logos on it from express for $10 out of the sale bin.
