After a lot of research I've decided to buy some Clarks DB.

Love the beeswax but somehow they aren't available here in Germany.

My second choice is the sands, but I'm not sure, if they are that versatile to wear them often.
Read a lot of threads about the DB's, but couldn't find an answer which satisfied me.

Would appreciate some infos or at least links to existing threads.

    Thanks

For real? Well, at least you posted it in here like a good boy:

Can anyone suggest a slim, straight jean along the lines of Levis 514, but with a higher rise? It has so come in 36 inseam (longer if raw).

    @ YUT:

It depends on how noble the disco is you want going to. But normal I suggest, sneakers, dark raw jeans or black and a checked button down shirt, weared outside the jeans. My standard disco outfit, but I`m a style noob, so I hope any experienced member gives you a good suggestion.

    Hey,

after some lurking in this forum here my first post so i will also use it to introduce myself. [IMG]

I'm 19, from germany and just graduated from school. So a new part of my life is about to begin and
I would like to take the chance and change some things for the future. One point on my list is changing
my style from bandshirt/not fitting jeans/chucks to something more... decent I guess. [IMG]

Thinking about getting out into the big world, what could be more important then some good shoes/boots to take that adventurous walk?

After some searching I found the Red Wing 9013:

I've fallen in love with those a little I guess. But I would want to make them to my every day carry boots and I'm not quite sure about how I can "use" them. I kind of like the worker class style and i guess they are fitting that style well. But what do you think how versatile are they?

Wearing them to some nice fitting denim and a checkered shirt should work quite well, shouldn't it? But what's about beyond that?
Some Knitwear? Or would a maybe some rather plain gray blazer work with them? I realy got no idead and would appreciate some suggestions.
Or maybe someone got a link for me with some examples on how one could wear those boots?
After looking through several WAYWT posts I sadly haven't found anything I could have used as an inspiration or something but i will keep looking.

Well i guess it's difficult to give suggestions based on boots but we'll see.

Any help for this Style-Noob here would be appreciated. [IMG]

Hey guys! I'm new to this forum and need some of your expertise.

I'm a college student in New York and need a wardrobe update (maybe a whole new wardrobe). I'm a big jeans guy. I'm thinking of wearing some neutral/dark colored basic t-shirts with jeans such as this one..

    http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wc...-1_12215_12202

Also, I'd appreciate it if you could recommend any other t-shirts that have a similar fit/cut.

With jeans I can also wear some polos and I do have a some Express shirts already in my wardrobe that I was thinking of using (sleeves rolled up with open top?).

Again any suggestions on what brand of polo has a similar cut to Abercrombie? I'm a pretty small build body. About 5'9'' at 140lbs. I'm not an athletic build yet but I'm starting to hit the gym to transform all fat into muscle.

The jeans I was thinking of using are...

    1. Have these jeans
    http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp...691994.3195585

    2. These too
    http://www.luckybrand.com/227-Slim-B...ectedColor=461

    3. Just ordered these ones today
    http://www.luckybrand.com/227-Slim-B...ectedColor=461

    4. Not a bad price?
    http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wc...-1_12691_12204

I have a slim waist and essentially no ass so its pretty tough to find jeans that fit me well. I have to opt for the slim bootcut (28x30) or slim straight (29x30).

In the fall/winter when it starts getting chilly in New York I was thinking of just layering up. With the t-shirts or polos I could put a sweatshirt or jacket over it. I can layer the shirts with sweaters and a jacket. What do you think about that?

I also need some advice on what kind of shoes to wear. I just bought these to wear out at night..

    http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse...scid=547908002

But what should I wear on a daily basis with jeans and a tee or shirt?

Basically, I'm looking for a simple, casual look that I can easily use throughout the seasons in NYC (I'm originally from California and never really had this problem). Appreciate any help you guys can give me and thanks in advance!

    1) Don't wear stuff with artificial distrssing and obnoxious branding, because it's tacky.

    2) You're a small dude, so wait until you're in new York and go to uniqlo (go early in the day) and stock up on slim fitting basics. You can buy nice denim here as well, but again, avoid artificial distressing.

    3) new York means a lot of walking, which means no dress shoes for everyday wear. Get a pair of sturdy boots (splurge on redwings, wolverine 1000 mile or aldens, or get Clarks desert boots if you're on a budget)

    4) as things get cooler, pick up a light fall jacket and a winter coat. By then you should be in NY long enough to have absorbed what well-dressed people are wearing and developed a sense what you like.

    5) if you really like wearing jeans, it might be worth it to invest in some premium raw selvedge denim. APC is a good entry level choice (and in NYC), as is naked and famous, nudie, or premium Levis. Do searches on these. If you really want a top quality pair, go to Blue in Greene or Self Edge NY and get some baller Japanese denim.

+1 for the good boots. Most people look at shoes first and you distinguish yourself from all the sneaker wearing guys. I'd stick with the basic stuff in black/white/navy/grey and add some colours in detail. As Kenneth Cole put it: "Establish a uniform, then layer in something new to make it fresh each day."

    A vest over a t-shirt w/jeans.

Anything by Ed Hardy or any brands that try to emulate what Christian Audigier does.

    Neon colors everywhere.

Basically, stick to basic colors (grey, white, black, navy, tans) with a few accent pieces thrown in depending on what your best color palette is. (Reds, greens, blues, yellows).

What are some pieces an 18 year old guy should absolutely NOT wear?

Anything that involves aspiring to a lifestyle, rather than dressing for the moment, e.g. wearing wool trousers and dress shoes every day at university.

Clothes designed around the moment of purchase, rather than the years of wear afterwards, e.g. buying a jacket because of an applique print that will get old quickly.

"Fun" or "quirky" pieces that overpower the wearer.

Hats, unless you're in a ska band.

I guess beanies are okay too, especially with glasses tucked in a la Ghostface. But no baseball caps, no trilbies, no fedoras, no panamas, no bucket hats, no newsboys.

I think the newsboys hat is arguable depending on location and circumstance.

Beanies are okay to some extent, just be weary of where/how/when you wear them.

Thanks for the advice guys! I don't really own any shit like that. Not anymore anyway. Most of my stuff currently is all just basic solid tees from Gap or AA. I'll wear my old graphic t's to bed or something, but I don't wear them out anymore once I realized they're pretty tacky. I just bought a pair of dark Levis 511s, will probably get a pair of raw denim closer to winter or so. Are buttondowns okay to wear for my age? I own a few, although they're shitty mall branded kind, so.
