Not looking for any sympathy. The hurricane flooded my apartment dumping dirty water on just about everything. Just moved in and didn't have renters insurance yet so I'm trying to research my options. I'm not complaining because some people lost their lives and homes. My loss is pretty insignificant in comparison and I'm praying for those who are trying to rebuild. I spent the last 5-6 years carefully building my small but respectable biz casual wardrobe and now most of it is going to have to be trashed. I have been able to salvage 1 pair of black CJ Loafers, trusty black chuck taylors, about a 8 custom shirts from various sources, 2 pairs of dark denim, 2 pairs (beige and black) banana republic chinos. My suits, the rest of my shirts, all of my pants and sweaters are f*cked beyond cleaning or repair. My question is...based on what I'm working with, what would be the least expensive way to at least make it through the fall/ winter? After moving, my budget is super tight but due to working in a fairly high profile position, I need to get back to looking presentable ASAP. I'm thinking a few jackets (ebay or thrift maybe), a trip to the tailor and some inexpensive sweaters could help me stretch what I have. Any other suggestions? Shops, brands, links etc... Sorry for rambling guys. I blame the starbucks and stress.
