Looking for some advice,

I need a second pair of black shoes to go along with my Allen Edmonds Leeds.

I placed an order for Alden Alden Men's Plain Straight Tip Blucher Oxford Calfskin for 362.00 which got back-ordered.

Then I came across BB sale of Peal cap toe balmoral calfskin for 200.00 so I bought those, and they were also back-ordered.

I really cant justify both, I would like to cancel one of the orders.

Just can't decide which is the better shoe. I do like the style of the Aldens.

Peal - balmoral - 200
vs.
Alden - oxford - 362

Any opinions?

Thanks,

the first is not the Peal (couldn't find a pic) -BB removed the shoe from their site
and the second is the Alden.

thanks for checking out the thread.

stick with the Peal on sale, no doubt.

Quality is about equal as far as material and construction.

A bit better attention to detail on the Peal. Also, the Peal has closed channel whereas the Alden has open.

that's all. take the Peal for the significant saving.

Aesthetically, I prefer the design of the Peal

But if you have a high instep...go for the Alden Blucher...if you have a low instep...go for he Oxford Peal...if your instep is regular...you must make the tough choice. If you have never owned an Alden shoe...then keep the Alden

in terms of quality, the peal will be as good or better than the alden. in terms of aesthetics, you decide...

Peal. The quality is good and they're at a cheaper price.

I ordered those Peals about a month ago, and own a pair of Aldens (albeit the bal cap oxfords). The Peals were nice, odd white-ish thread used to stitch it, but otherwise well made. My biggest complaint with the fit, 9.5 was too large and I couldn't fit my foot into the 9, though that's likely unique to me. I will say that my Aldens are far more comfortable than the Peals, IMHO.
