Two new jackets that I received recently. They are both quite similair. But made by two different tailors from the same region. Main difference is that the top one is made out of cashmere and the bottom one is tweed. Both jackets have not been pressed after I received them.

What are your thoughts of them? Which one you like more and why?

Both look great overall. Chest on the bottom piece looks a little cleaner, but it may just be the sturdiness/differences in the fabrics. Left sleeve on the bottom coat also looks a touch long? It also looks like the button point on the bottom one is slightly higher, creating a slight issue with the front from the middle button down (doesn't hang as nicely), but it may just be that it needs a pressing.

Of ocurse it all may be illusions from the pictures. I'd be happy with both of those. Stylistically, I love your choices for both.

Did you get the suit as well?

The Cut is virtually identical but based on what I see I tend towards the second Jacket.
Its a classical cut but seems to be more modern and playful. The first one for me borders more on the Conservative side.

The pattern of the tweed one looks wavy and off. It could be due to pressing? Not sure.

The chests on each one look wrong--particularly the first. It's as if the jacket is collapsing in on itself. The second jacket appears to have some front balance problems, as implied by the skewed, uneven pattern of the fabric.

How tight are these around the waist? You have little to no shape in either jacket. My inclination wuold be to broaden the chest and shoulders, or bring in the waist, depending.

.

If this is what you guys are talking about, it is the result of a dart which is sometimes necessary to fit certain figures. It is considered normal.

They both look long to me. No way to really know that without a full body shot, however.

I like both. I like shapeless tweed jackets.

Look under the breast pocket of the second jacket. The pattern looks like it's angled downward.

No, that's not what I'm talking about. On the second jacket, the pattern on the left side is not level or symmetrical with that on the right, and the pattern throughout looks distorted. The pattern on the right slopes noticeably downward. I don't know what's causing the issue (stretchy fabric, bad ironing, balance?), but it looks bad.

Yes, this is what I was referring to as well, but yes the distortion due to darts is normal.

I prefer the lower buttoning point as well as the open quarters of the first.

I can't say if it's due to the difference in fabrics or not, but it seems the pattern matching/leveling of the first is superior as well.

I think the lapels on both are a bit wider than is flattering.

This criticism is coming from a portly fellow, so please don't take it personally. But, I think both patterns (maybe/maybe not on the first, but definitely on the second) are "too much" for your physique. I love patterns as much as the next guy, but simpler patterns would certainly flatter you more.

I like the first best. The pattern looks like one I would buy for myself. I also like the mor open quarters on it.

I sense the reveal on these will be quite interesting.
