I need to rent a tuxedo for a formal evening dance in May but as I have never rented a tuxedo before I don't know what to look for. I am looking for something formal and appropriate but I don't think I want anything too rigid as I'm more of a armani exchange/abercrombie/diesel and gap kind of guy.

Having just gone through this process recently, I should be able to help. Are you sure you just want to rent a tuxedo, because buying can be economical if you put the time into the process (in a short timespan I found two great tux's, each not significantly costing more than a rental or two)? A little background may be helpful like your age, size, spending range, personal preferences, and the type of party you'll be attending.

I'm 18 and about 5'11" and 160 lbs. Since I'm a student I would prefer not to spend an exorbitant amount of money on a tux purchase or rental (say under 300) and I am going to a friend's high school prom.

If you already have the shoes, you should be able to stay within budget. I hate to generalize, but since this is a high school prom (and not a wedding) you can probably get away with something formal but not too formal - a tux with a black shirt and regular black (not bow) tie, perhaps?
