Tuxedo singles

I've always wondered why tuxedo singles seem to be so popular (as in buying just a dinner jacket somewhere). Wouldn't you later suffer the awful "different tones of black" look?

If its rental stock then its fine since in the US almost all the cloth for rental tuxedos comes from the same place, hence you can mix and match.
