Tuxedo - replace original buttons?

Hello fellow members,

I have just recently inherited a very nice and nearly unused tuxedo. It is midnight blue, 1 button single breated with silk faced peak lapels and bessom pockets. It fits me very nice - just have to take the sleeves up ½-1 inch.
The front button and the sleeve buttons are uncovered, I have been told that it is because this tuxedo is of old age.

My question: Should I try to find some old or new silk covered buttons or would this ruin the "old" style look (if this is true)?

Think I'm going to wear it with a cummerbund (personal preference) and maybe some non-patent calf pumps. I actually like this twist with the pumps as I am more neandrosexual than metrosexual.

Whatever your preference, it wouldn't ruin the look. I would stay with the original buttons but then I don't care for covered buttons.

I think a white vest would look better than a cummerbund which is something I've never really liked, maybe in tropical enviroments.

What is a neandrosexual?
