I am a tall man with red hair and a fair complexion; what would be a good choice of colors in a custom tuxedo for general formal wear?

Tuxes are meant to be black or midnight blue.

There are but three choices for dinner jackets: black, midnight blue, or white with black trousers. The last is of course much less formal and better suited to summer/tropical/lounge contexts.

So, for general formalwear, black and midnight, as philosophe said, are the only choices. Choosing between those two is not so much an issue of complexion as preference (didn't we just have a thread about this?)

I'm new to this forum and had not considered midnight blue as an option; that's a good suggestion, thanks.
I've also done a search for "threads" on tuxedos and found some very good information there. Thanks to all.

There are some choice to be made in terms of the lapels (peak or shawl), which might depend on the shape of your face and your stature. I, for example, being rather short, prefer a single-breasted peak-lapel dinner jacket.
