Tuxedo Question

I'm looking for a tuxedo (see my post in WTB ) that will not see much use other than charity events a few times a year. While I was originally thinking of going very traditional, this Zegna striped tux caught my eye. What do you guys think about this tux - is it too non-traditional if the goal is too look sharp but not stand out too much (if I wanted that, I'd go with the Cousin Vinnie/'70's prom burgundy look)? If its my only formal wear, better to go with traditional?

It also has a notch lapel. It would be better to avoid that as well.

There are other styles out there that are acceptable these days but for your first it is always best and safe to go tradional.

Thanks guys - anybody have a nice black shawl collar in a 42R (or 43 or 44) that you haven't been wearing much?

Check out the ORIGINAL tuxedo at Henery & Poole. I think any other choice for your first tux is crazy

This probably will sound like blasphemy, BUT...
Since you're not going to wear it much (not many do), I'd check w/ a rental company. The best of them rent name brand DJs and turn over inventory each year. The rentals have been worn very little and are hugely discounted. I've bought 2 sets of tails that way, one of which w/ the help of a decent tailor, became a Prince Charlie for my kilt. Find a great tailor and you'll even get compliments on it.

Yes, once you go Henery & Poole, you never go back.

Kilts are pretty good for charity events.

Is Henery & Poole to Henry Poole as Baroni is to Brioni?
