Trying to find slim fit shorts/cargo shorts that are "really" slim fit

I keep ordering cargo shorts advertised as "slim fit" and when they show up they are huge! I am 5'10" 165 lbs. Medium anything fits me...

I just want some cool looking shorts - not skin tight. But not baggy. These are for casual wearing like wearing to the beach or just hanging around.

Any recommendations?

There is no such thing as slim-fit cargo shorts, by virtue of those ridiculous puffy pockets. Likewise a search for “cool looking” cargo shorts will end in frustration or at your death, whichever comes first. What do you need pockets on your knees for, anyway?

Of course slim-fit cargo pants/shorts exist. There's no right or wrong in personal styles and the OP was asking for information not opinions. Your disapproval of a style doesn't make it reasonable to ridicule those that feel differently.

Cool is an opinion. He asked about cool, so he wanted opinions. And my opinion is that there is no such thing as cool cargo shorts. Based on many newspaper and magazine reports, most women agree. As to slim fit, certainly there are slim shorts with tailored internal pockets, but the subject at hand is cargo shorts--and no shorts with bulging external pockets will ever look slim. My ridicule is directed solely at the article of clothing, not at the poster as a person.
