Hey,

I've been a fairly shy type of guy most of my life so I've normally stuck to the same kind of comfortable, dull colored jeans, baggyish tshirts and plain sweatshirts/hoodies. Recently a friend suggested I should try new things though so I thought why not, but as I've never really focused much on style/fashion I'd love some advice / crit.

As a bit of background I am 18 and from the UK. As I said earlier I'm fairly shy and don't have much confidence, but am trying to improve this (and have been doing well).

My friend recommend I should try some skinny jeans with a cardigan. Normally I'd think something along the lines of "I would never even think about that" but I figured why not try it?

Anyway, if anyone has any feedback, ideas or crit on this I'd love to hear it. Personally I'm not sure if it suits me, but I think maybe the sizing is a little off?

Note: The outfit is for casual wear, not work.

Cheers,
Jon

In terms of a casual outfit, I like cardigans and jeans.

I would recommend to get a smaller sweater as the bagginess doesn't really match the slim jeans. On second review, the sweater may be the right size, but just a funky cut...a little too old man-ish?

I'd also recommend you ditch the t-shirt and go for an OCBD (Oxford Cloth Button Down).

You're off to a good start.

Congrats on trying to find yourself! This is my opinion. I'm not a big fan of cardigans on younger guys. Baggy clothes typically signal to me that someone is trying to hide themselves (emotionally). I think getting a nice button down shirt, belt and a haircut would do wonders for your appearance and self esteem. That should get you on a positive track!

Instead of a cardigan, try a v-neck with an OCBD in a lighter colour, which will frame your face rather than drawing the eye down your chest as this one does.

Jon,
Congrats on trying new things. I agree with the others who said you're off to a good start. The cardigan goes well with the jeans and I personally like the t-shirt underneath for casual wear, especially since you're a young guy. If you're comfortable with a smaller size, maybe go down a size or two on the cardigan. If it fits a little more like a loose shirt, it definitely works with a t-shirt underneath.
Just my thoughts.

i think you are in the wrong forum, people here will make you dress like Carlton Banks III. You should check out the Streetwear forum.

what you are wearing looks fine if unremarkable, if it is already a huge departure from what you used to wear, it's a good starting point. You will probably get tired of the baggy clothes within a few months.
