The black ripple looks sick. Not sure I could pull it off though.

I think pull tabs look good, but they can be a minor pain in catching your pants -- at least on my White's that happens, and I find myself bending over just about everytime I get up to fix it.

Gusseted tongue: I have them on my White's Bounty Hunters and it was VERY painful on my ankle where the double fold hit; I ended up cutting them back myself to a semi-gusset! Which now works fine. I'd say that unless others are having problems with the tongue shifting, avoid the potential problem and go with the regular tongue...

Vince got back to me and recommended a size 10. Now I'm just trying to figure out which one to order or if I should wait a bit to see the new leather materials coming out. I been leaning towards something in black as both my other boots are brownish hues.

My White's are 6". Here is a pic, 1 year of wear:

Most Vibergs are 5". I was actually wondering about Trumans: I notice the older pics have 8 eyelets and the newer ones 7, and they look a bit shorter. Does anyone know, did they switch from 6" to 5"?

Order placed for brown waxed flesh. This will be my first work boot and I'm excited more so than I have been in a while for a pair of shoes. The iconic Viberg beat-up WF pic that makes its rounds around here drew me to this style, but I couldn't justify the price. Viberg charges an arm and a leg for their products and I didn't want to shell out that kind of money. From all the pics I've seen and the material I've read, it seems these Truman boots will be a fine alternative and achieve 99% of what I'm looking for.

Can anyone explain the difference between Java and brown WF? Also debating between structured or unstructured and brass or nickel for eyelets.

The site says Java is darker, but that it's hard to notice until the patina starts to develop. I went structured with the toe; I like the idea of an unstructured toe with the WF (looks a bit more casual) but I want to beat these things up and figure the structured toe will help them keep their shape a bit better. I like nickel with black leather and brass with brown, but I feel like that's really a matter of personal preference.

Is anyone having issues with the standard tongues shifting?

Sold my Vibergs last week and placed an order for some Trumans today.

    • Brown Waxed Flesh
    • Pull Tab
    • Cap Toe (Unstructured)
    • 7-Eyelet Antique Brass -- Wish they had normal brass, so I might switch them out myself
    • Dainite Logger Sole -- Really excited to finally try that sole out myself

I've owned just about all the major players in the work-boot game, but this is the most excited I've ever been about a purchase.
