How would you rate the comfort level of these boots? Do you guys put insoles in them?
The boots are really well made and Vince is great to work with. I haven't had time to put any wear on mine so you will have to go back thru the thread for some feedback on comfort ( what I have read is really good) I wear half insoles (Redi-thotics) and I will say these boots have low (not sure right term here) vamps but the feedback is they stretch out pretty well. I would think the cxl leathers will stretch out the easiest.
What sole and leather are you considering.
FSseminolefan ...I mean Duck
I ordered the seidel madone with a dainite sole. I have always had issues breaking in my right boot. The crease always smashes down on the bottoms of my toes. I didn't know if driving could cause a sharper crease (my left foot is always fine). How do you guys break them in? I asked about insoles because I didn't know if you guys use them or not. Thanks for the reply.
Sent an email and Vince got back to me right away. He is very helpful and I look forward to ordering a pair. Just have to decide what to get. The coyote roughout looks interesting just can't identify what color it is in the sunlight. Not exactly snuff suede color.
Can anyone speak to the nature of that Madone leather, which I've never heard of before?
Also, anyone know if Truman will send out try-on boots for sizing?

Those guys are pretty swamped rite now doubt they have time to mess with that
1 get your brannock size
2 draw an outline of your foot
3 if you wear a known brand that fits ( like redwing or wolverine) reference that
If you do this and the boots still don't fit properly they probably will replace them with a pair that do
E mail Vince he is hands down one of the easiest people to communicate with
They also have a larger and more active presence on Instagram
All good standard advice, except that I know from repeated experience that here is no substitute for trying boots on. And I actually did email them a week or two ago but never heard back. No big deal, cause at this point I am just curious; not ready to make a real order..
They have a one piece leather insole. Pretty much the same as White's or Nick's.
I asked Vince about the Madone leather makeup, and he directed me to the review:
Basically, you don't have to gamble with Chromexcel creasing, although it's not as soft.
Java waxed flesh
Anyone know, where are they located in eastern PA?
NE PA, in the Poconos or thereabouts.
Should I go for java or black waxed flesh? I'm looking for a workwear boot that I can throw on with jeans and a t-shirt, which is what I wear practically every weekend in LA. I think brown shoes are over-represented in SF and perhaps also in my rotation. Here's what I have:
-Vass U last antique cognac shell wingtip blucher shoe
-Carmina Rain dark brown calf chelsea boot
-Carmina Oscar black calf jumper boot
-C&J 325 wingtip boot brown shell
-Meermin Hiro brown calf double monk shoe
-Vass U last black calf captoe oxford shoe (rarely worn, haven't even worn 'em once in 2015)
Looking at my rotation above, I'm wearing brown most of the week. I'm also considering a Wolverine 1k in black or cordovan CXL. My brain tells me to get something black, but I don't want to regret not getting java or something burgundy.
I would hold off your decision for a while. Vince told me they will have some new leathers coming in soon.
