True Religion Jeans at Target?

I was browsing my local target on my lunch and saw a pair of True Religiong jeans on the clearance rack and thought my eyes must be wrong and it must be another brand. After looking more I found about 25-30 pairs of True Religion jeans. There were 2 or 3 different washes. The tag says they were I think $150.00 and were now just under $38.00. I dind't know Target carried anything like this. Are they the real deal or did this Target get them by accident. They had them in a 28, 29, or 30 inch waist. I believe one of them was the Mickey style jean. I never post on this forum and figured I would take this to the denim experts and see if anybody has seen these at Target or if anybody knew anything about this. If they are the real deal, I might have to buy them out and flip them. Thank for the help.

Wow, that is really, really odd.

I've never seen jeans priced more than $35 at Target. Usually they carry their own brands (Cherokee, Mossimo, and that cheap Levis line), not an independent brand such as TR.

I'd pick up a pair, and post photos here. If it turns out to be legit, perhaps scoop up the rest to flip on ebay.

i dont think true religion is independent, i remember reading how they're on the stock exchange now

These are fakes, I found this out from a very reliable source. TR is currently investigating this with Target's assistance. Target unknowning purchased an inventory of fakes believing it to be authentic TRs. Look closely at the detailing they are fakes. I have also heard reports of AGs being at Target, but I haven't seen for my self.

unless this is a matter of national security, would you mind sharing your very reliable source?

i always find it odd when fake merchandise shows up in places like target, urban outfitters, et al. these places only deal with X amount of vendors and the likelihood of them being duped seems unfathomable.

regardless, target is where TR belongs.

From TR, customers came to the store where I work asking about it so we called and got that as our answer.

as for where TR belongs, I completely agree, granted it sells well for us because people just love that name brand

QFT! Issues of authenticity aside, would $40 True Religions even be worth the effort to flip on eBay? I've seen quite a few pairs, both men's and women's, on super-clearance at Nordstrom Rack lately (I can't remember exactly how much they were, but I'm guessing they'd probably wind up being about $40 or $50, down from $200+). If there are that many, that cheap at places like Target and Nordstrom Rack, could demand for TRs perhaps be dropping? Would you be able to make enough profit, after tax, shipping, eBay fees, PayPal fees, etc.?

Just curious, True Religion told you they were fake or you called management at Target and they told you that True Religion said they were fake?

just because TR is saying that they're fake, i wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them as fakes. TR has been selling to discounters and outlet stores for the last few years it seems and target certainly qualifies as such. didn't coach recently file charges against target for selling fake merchandise to which target defended saying that they purchased the bags directly from coach? i believe the jury is still out on that one but, with all of these "luxury" brands selling to what they deem as "upscale discounters" (eluxury, nordstrom rack, off 5th, bluefly, loehmans, etc.) i think it is entirely plausable that a buyer for target, could have easily purchased coach, true religion, whatever on the up and up without the companies being fully aware. by the time they realize who exactly they sold their merchandise to, their name has already been tarnished so they have no choice but to claim that they're fake and file a lawsuit. even if it's dropped six months later, the company has done a fair job of distancing themselves from a place like target.

it's entirely possible that they are fake, but IMO it seems more plausible that true religion unknowningly sold target their goods than target was irresponsible enough to sell conterfeit merchandise.
