On the fence so far. Story may end up compelling enough and I hold out hope for the acting to get better. The characters seem a little forced out of the gate. Lukewarm start IMO.

Man seeing Colin's character downing that JW Blue in huge gulps made me feel a little queasy.

Took me back to when I was at dinner with my parents and ordered 2 glasses unbeknownst to them. Pops had a WTF moment when they got the bill but my argument was that, since he had stopped drinking for a while at the time, he was actually coming out ahead even with $70 for 2 glasses.

Tim Riggins is gonna be a tough sell in this one. Every scene he was in was cheesetown. The wind in the face bike scene had me in guffaw mode.

He was good in Lone Survivor.

Yeah his chops are there but I hope he doesn't have to act his way out of the **** they write for him. If episode 1 was any indication, it's gonna be a rough ride for him (or anyone having to play that part).

I'm not feeling it. None of the weirdness of S1, and without that it's just an extra noir-y cop show.

Actually I think the show is really about Colin Farrell's mustache.

Christ there has been one episode.

You must not recall that season 1 episode 1 wasn't all that fast to get into the good stuff either.

I thought they did a pretty good job introducing 4 major characters along with important bits of their backstories.

Vince was surprisingly good. Colin was great. Amy showed a good bit of range with her sister and dad scenes, considering the hardass she's portraying. Taylor seemed a bit... forced.

So...

  • Farrel is a drunk cop with a wife who got raped and had a baby nine months later.
  • Vaughn is a crook with some kind of big time investment deal that requires that Casper guy to be alive.
  • McAdams has a troublesome family past and isn't into something sexual a guy wanted to do. She also likes to drink a lot at Casinos?
  • Kitsch is a suicidal CHP with erectile dysfunction. He was burned, too, probably by some relative?

Did I get all that right?

Or anything else in the spectrum of kinky **** that might give pause.

I like Rachel McAdams. She's surpringly thick for someone with such delicate facial features.

And they all had the corniest first meeting of any characters I can recall.

Vaughn is mob guy trying to go straight. Needed city manager alive.

Pretty sure that McAdams wanted to toss the salad or something.

Kitsch my be some sort of crash survivor on a guilt trip. He has flappy cheeks and I will never take the character seriously after that.
