I don't have a good feeling about the actors, but I am willing to wait and see. I don't see this being as enjoyable as S1 mostly because it's in California. While CA can be in interesting state, no state in the union has that weird other worldly feeling like LA.

It won't be in LA though, i think the show is planning to do something in a non big city area like the last one. I'd guess something in the SLO area.

I meant LA as in Louisiana. But yes, it's better that S2 will take place in the lesser known parts of CA.

Agreed, not sure how to feel about the casting. However they did a great job last season and have a lot to live up to, so I hope they know what they're doing.
I can kind of picture Vaughan as a mob related character, but at the same time I don't think I can take him seriously. We'll have to wait I guess.

true detective has been confirmed to be filming this week as per taylor's twitter from some website i read up in facebook news feed.

so it looks like it will be released by summer 2015. sounds like a 5-6 months shooting, 1-2 months editing.

i must say the cast choice is odd to me given the mood of the show but I do like actors that are type cast to step outside their typecast roles. VV has been playing a comedy guy for too long, he can play creepy I remmeber the movie where he played the psycho step dad. CF again kinda an action dude with a lot more to offer, I feel like he hasn't quite had the right role yet to display his skills, in Bruges was excellent. Rachel Mcadams has always struck me like she can do something, hope she can prove it. Taylor kitsch I am not sure, battleship wasn't Oscar worthy but savages was intreting.

I hope some of these actors can get away form the type casting as MM did.

I was really hoping for Keira Knightley but I'm fine with Rachel McAdams getting the major female role.

Unfortunately, this season has so much to live up to. Not sure it will meet everyone's expectations. Fingers crossed.

Watching through Season 1 for the third time. Still loving it.

The trailer for Season 2 is helping to quell my worries that the series won't live up to my expectations.

Why LA county? There are other places of CA that would feel better for the show. I loved how they captured how weird Louisiana was in season 1. Other good locations would be the keys, Ozarks, and Alaska.
