anyone else think they look really silly? Not talking about 3 roll 2, but classic, true 3 button sport coats, suits, etc.

The way the lapel darts out after the top button so sharply because of the small lapel makes it looks unnatural. Maybe it's just me.

I am a taller gentleman and the high 3 button jackets don't work for me.

I like a true 3 button. In fact I just bought one. Will post pics later

Honestly, the first time I heard of a 3 roll 2 was on SF and I have never understood the point of one. If you want a 2 button get a 2 button.

I'm not so into 3 buttons. I recently bought a 3-button jacket but I never button the 3rd button and in fact it really wears like a 2 roll 3 (or do I call it, 3 roll 2?). That's good for me, really. The clerk was young so it's possible he didn't know the difference (!?) but anyway this works very well for me.

The 3 roll 2 creates a nicer roll.

+1 from me AJ

Horses for courses and life would be dull if we all dressed the same, but I have one DB suit and one DB blazer then about 20 sports jackets and 12 suits all three button no vent. I notice from the 'deal breakers' thread that this won't win me many SF points but I can live with that.

I especially agree with you on three roll two. Whats the point? Just get a two. The button hole in the lapel just looks wank even when Cary Grant did it in the Preacher's Wife and Affair to Remember.

were you not wearing suits in the early to mid 1990's when 3 button suits were the "in" thing and 2 buttons were considered outdated and unstylish?

I like all 3-button styles, but even with a full 3-button I only button the middle. Roger Moore wore an interesting 3-button style on a few occasion in the Persuaders which I'd call a 3-button paddock jacket. The 3 buttons were much higher and more closely space than usual and all were fastened. The quarters were cut a bit more open. It had a more Edwardian look and I think it was a really cool style. But this style isn't appropriate for business suits and better for the country.
