Hello,

I am about to bring these pair of trousers to the tailor. Never really paid much attention to trousers before (minus the hem) so I would welcome some advice on the fit and what alterations are required.

The grey are flannel and the navy are twill.

  • Both are too long?
  • Too loose at hips level?
  • Both bag near the crotch when I sit. Reason?
  • Too much fabric on the legs from the back?
  • What else?

Thanks

The fabric pooling on the rear thigh areas is probably due to an interaction between hip position (forward or back) while standing and the balance between front and back rise of the pants. I don't think it can be fixed without remaking or standing without letting your hips roll forward.

The back rise looks small. Are they uncomfortable over the rear?

Also, may go shorter at the hem with very slim cut pants, perhaps so they just barely touch the top of the shoe. Just what I've read/seen, but I wear full cut trousers.

They fit you well, just need a little adjustment. Take in the seat and maybe the crotch. Probably the most common alteration. Taking in the crotch will give a little shape to the back thigh area. Don’t take in the upper leg too much, will throw off the drape. Pictures are too dark and in shadows to be too specific.
These shoes aren’t good to judge length. Wear the shoes you will wear with these trousers. Any amount of heel on the shoe or thick soles will effect the length. These shoes will throw things off. They bunch up now because the opening at the hem is so narrow.
