This is probably another weird question. But it's one of those questions I had burning, and never had the right outlet to ask.

I have a problem with trousers, especially around the pocket area. And this comes down to my preference for messenger bags and how I carry them. Basically, my favourite trousers (being an old fart, they usually come from Zegna, Jaeger, Aquascutum, etc) all eventually die not from hem wear or stitching issues, but wear from my bags around the pocket area (i.e. where the bag rubs most against the leg).

You're going to say 'buy a backpack', right?

I'm switching over to all-leather messenger bags (instead of canvas or twill back) soon so the bags should rub less, but I just wondered if there was a convenient way to prevent this sort of wear, maybe even just by paying attention to what types of trousers I buy. If I could mitigate this type of wear, I could probably quite easily double the life of the trousers I wear without jackets this way.
