Trouser alterations question

How complicated and expensive is it to:

Put single pleats on flat front trousers (I suppose the trousers must have a generous allowance or not fit skin tight pre-alteration)?

Remove belt loops and add side tabs like the following (taken from LL):

I'm not a tailor, but from what I've read, adding/removing pleats is a fairly major operation. I've actually never heard of them being added, but I guess you would need enough excess fabric to make up for the size of the pleats, so if the pants aren't already too large I'd think you'd be out of luck.

This is basically making a new pair of pants out of the fabric of the old pants.

And the tabs? I'm most curious about this myself.

Provided you have enough extra material, perhaps from the hem of the pants, I would assume that a good tailor could remove the belt loops and add tabs, but I have no idea what they might charge, and again I am not a tailor so I'm only speculating.

you need about 4 inches of excess cloth. and it would not be cheap to get it done.
the side pockets would shift fore ward. other changes may occur that might need alterations.

Rather a silly idea - why not buy them thus or more likely get them made?

To alter an existing pair would require addition cloth though adding pleats would be impossible. If you really want such side adjusters buy a second pair and cut them up.

That was exactly my intuition, and yes, the pants come unhemmed

I thought that if the waist fits fine, the tabs would be more decorative than functional, and would tighten the waist a quarter of an inch at the most, since I have tended to keep my figure the same for a long time. I just think that a business suit like what I'm looking for looks way cleaner without a belt.

This is like telling someone who asks how much it costs to shorten the sleeves on a jacket to go bespoke. I am eyeing a nice RTW at a good price, and it has belt loops and flat front trousers

Might be possible to frankenstein in some extra cloth then sew the pleat shut for some faux pleats that look the part.

Some of my trousers have ginormous pleats that I'm thinking of having shrunken. I have looking like I have wood every time I sit down.

I've got to say i always thought it was possible to add side tabs to trousers.
